Dr. Sondra Elson
Dr. Sondra Elson has been employed in the veterinary field since 1998. From kennel worker, receptionist, research assistant, nurse, to doctor…she has explored nearly every facet of the veterinary practice. It is with great pride that she provides one of the greatest gifts in veterinary medicine – the peaceful and painless alleviation of pain, suffering, and ailment through gentle euthanasia at home.
Dr. Elson graduated with High Honors from the University of California at Davis in 2003. After several years of work as a veterinary technician, she then went on to attend veterinary school at The Ohio State University, graduating in 2010.
During veterinary school Dr. Elson volunteered for Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, often fostering dogs with special needs. After graduating, she spent several months volunteering full-time at non-profit animal shelters in New Mexico, providing surgical services.
Dr. Elson then completed a 1 year small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson in Arizona that emphasized Emergency Medicine, after which she continued full time work as an Emergency Clinician.
Dr. Elson currently is down to only one canine “baby”, ‘Corazon’, a 6yo American Staffordshire/Cocker Spaniel X…though she doesn’t know how long she’ll be able to resist getting a second!. Cora is quite independent and loves to spend hours entertaining herself in the yard stalking insects & lizards. In 2016 she said goodbye to her little angel Boston Terrier ‘Bender’ at 12.5yrs, and most recently she helped her 14yo German Shepherd ‘Kegen’ find the Peace he needed. Both transitioned with her at home using the exact same approach she uses for all her in-home appointments. Her animals are not just pets – they are FAMILY. This is a belief that she extends to every patient, and family, that she has the honor of working with.
She is honored to help you. Fear Free certification provides a strong foundation for her ability to connect with companion animals and their families.
